that is my Marin Quake 7.2. People looked at my as if I was on crack riding all the XC trails on it but I never regretted having that bike on that road trip - super efficient and it destroyed Downieville!

Keen eye! In my defense - that is how the rep delivered the bike. That is pretty hilarious though. I rode down the mountain halfway backwards and figured one rotor backwards would be good. haha.

looks good. probably need that gussett between the top tube and seat tube like you other design for strength. I do like the slopestyle aesthetic though.

this one is better. good triangulation of the rear end for stiffness/strength.

How would you lower your seat? You'll end up throwing a lot of mud into you shock. Your pivot is also very high and will result in an almost inactive shock while pedalling due to the excessive chaingrowth. Also think about your rear swingarm - it is thin and long and would require some triangulation to be stiff/strong enough.
I hope this doesn't seem too critical - just trying to offer some advice.

Those forks would have broken if the bars hadn't pulled out too. They look pretty bent. Someone woke up and thought, "How can I knock some teeth out today?".
